In a given ammeter, a student sees that needle indicates 17 divisions in ammeter

In a given ammeter, a student sees that needle indicates 17 divisions in ammeter while performing an experiment to verify Ohm’s law. If ammeter has 10 divisions between 0 and 0.5A, then what is the value corresponding to 17 divisions?

Answer

An ammeter has 10 divisions between 0 to 0.5 A.

So,

1 Division = 0.5 A / 10 = 1/20

17 divisions = 17/20 = 0.85 A

A cone of maximum size is carved out from a cube of edge 14 cm. Find the surface area of the remaining solid after the cone is carved out

A cone of maximum size is carved out from a cube of edge 14 cm. Find the surface area of the remaining solid after the cone is carved out.

Answer

Surface area of remaining solid = 6L2 - πr2 + πrℓ, where r and l are the radius and slant height of the cone.

ℓ = √(72 + 142) = 7√5

L = 14 cm

r = 14/2 = 7 cm

Surface area of remaining solid = (1022 + 154√5) cm2
